Pride Interfaith Worship Service - June 11, 2011
The 2011 Pride Interfaith Service was held at Old South Church in Copley Square before the annual Pride Parade. With overcast skies, Rabbi Howard Berman summed up the sentiments of those who had gathered by saying, "In the words of Saint Barbara - 'Lord, don't rain on my parade'" (an excert of Rabbi Berman's community prayer can be read at http://inmylifetime.typepad.com/bkhipsher/2011/06/rabbi-howard-berman-modern-day-prophet.html). The Rev. Liz Walker, African Methodist Episcopal Church preached on The Risk of Love. The Coalition also was honored to present to Ken and Marcia Garber of Dignity/Boston the 2011 Pride Interfaith Award for their work for transgender rights and with transgender youth.

Dr. Kwok Pui Lan of The Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA writes:
Thanks so much for organizing such a moving interfaith service. I am a professor at the Epicopal Divinity School in Cambridge. Several faculty members and about ten students from my school attended this morning's service. I especially liked the broad spectrum of faiths represented, including the humanist tradition. I thought the dancing was especially spectacular. Ken and Marcia's story moved me to tears and I was touched by their courage and their determination to stand up for transgender youths. I have written a blog about it and hope that others will do whatever they can to spread their message.
